People dealing with horse ulcers often read my material on holistic treatments for ulcers, and then write me complaining that some of the treatments were not very effective on their horses.

Not all treatments for horse ulcers are equally effective for every horse and every ulcer. That is because horses can develop four different kinds of ulcers, each in a different location. Horse ulcers can occur in the upper stomach, lower stomach, duodenum (upper part of the small intestine), and colon. Each of these horse ulcers needs a different kind of treatment.
For instance, horse ulcers in the stomach respond really well to natural herbs like Slippery Elm Bark and Aloe Vera juice, which soothe the irritated stomach lining. Blue-green algae helps to speed the healing process, and make the horse more comfortable.
But this recipe doesn’t work well for duodenal ulcers, which tend to be caused by anxiety and indigestion. Pre- and probiotics immediately relieve the pain caused by these ulcers, and also help a nervous horse relax.
